We used to sing a song but I can only remember a bit of it.  It went something like - phonetically! -" Alla fisher, alla ball, Indian ball, rubber ball, alla fisher, alla ball." Can anyone remember this? I lived in the East Midlands, so it may of course have been peculiar to that region.

I saw such a game played quite a bit as a kid.  The song the accompanied the sequential hand slapping sped up until someone messed up.  At that point everyone would giggle then start over.  It was mainly played by girls, they were the only ones coordinated and patient enough at that age to accomplish such a feat.

I'm trying to teach my daughter the few clapping games I remember such as Miss Mary Mack - Miss Lucy Had A Steamboat (a.k.a.  Miss Suzie) - & Say, Say My Playmate (& Enemy).

I've tried to explain "Rockin' Robin" to her, but that's always been a four person game.  I guess I could figure out how to play it with only two...

Anyway, I suddenly had a brilliant idea.  Look them up on the internet! There must be loads of videos with kids doing this, right?

*wah wah wah waaaaahhh* Fail.

You know, it's a really bad sign when it's easier to find more videos of kids getting blooded into (or out of) gangs than it is to find examples of fun, laughter-inducing street games.

Another game was my friend the witch doctor.  It went:
My friend the witch doctor,he told me what to say.
My friend the witch doctor,he told me what to do.
And he said...ooo,eee,ooo,ah,ah,ting,tang,walla walla,bing,bang.
ooo,eee,ooo,ah,ah,ting,tang,walla,walla,bing,bang.
ooo,eee,ooo,ah,ah,ting tang walla,walla,walla...bing...bang.

I have been looking for a site like this for a while.  Every so often some of the childhood games I played pop into my mind and I try to see if they were played by some of my younger relatives as kids.  They remember a few and those they are not familiar with get looks like"WHAT THE HECK IS SHE TALKING ABOUT!" Ilove it when this happens...I just smile...walk away and say "What kind of childhood did you have...

Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack
All dressed in black, black, black
With silver buttons, buttons, buttons
All down her back, back, back.

She asked her mother, mother, mother
For fifteen cents, cents, cents
To see the elephants, elephants, elephants
Jump the fence, fence, fence.

They jumped so high, high, high
They reached the sky, sky, sky
They never came back, back back
'Til the 4th of July, ly, ly!
